An X-ray takes a picture of the inside of your body using a small dose of radiation. It is quick and is one of the most common tests for the chest, bones and joints.
You may be asked to remove jewellery, belts and other metal objects. Tell our staff if you are, or could be, pregnant before the X-ray is taken.
The radiation dose from a single X-ray is small and the test is considered safe. We only take the X-rays your doctor needs.
Please tell our staff before the test. Your doctor will decide whether the X-ray is needed now or whether another test is better.
